Flash skills are increasingly in demand, and there is a shortage of good Flash designers on the market today. Yet, despite the business opportunities, many print designers find the leap to interactive Flash design intimidating.

Here are a series of tutorials showing how to create a simple Flash-based shooter game from scratch. That might sound a bit frivolous, but the Flash skills you'll pick up along the way are serious business.

Source: Over the next couple months, we'll be throwing more Flash and Web Development tips into the mix. This week I'll be looking for more tips at the Luminous Works' Flash Essentials workshop (this Wednesday). If you are a designer in Seattle looking to jump into Flash, I'd love to see you there!

Workshop/Webcast: Photoshop CS4 Color Correction.

Our new hybrid workshop/webcast training format is a hit! Last week, designers from Seattle and around the world joined us in person and online for our inaugural workshop on What's New in CS4.

CS4-AdjustmentsPanel.pngThis Thursday, we present an updated version of one of our most popular workshops: Photoshop color correction.

How do you improve the color balance of your images? This workshop will show you the basic principals of color correction — with real-world application of those principals. All updated for Photoshop CS4.

With an intimate look at one of the biggest changes in Photoshop CS4: The new Adjustments Panel interface.

Here is how the training works: Local designers participate at our training room in Seattle, while online attendees participate via the web on their home/office computer. Internet viewers can type questions using a webinar interface — and the instructor answers, just as if that person was attending in person.

Each workshop runs 90 minutes, and includes a handy PDF reference booklet. Workshops cost $49 each (with $10 off for tips readers).

Thursday, Nov 6 — Photoshop CS4: Color Correction Techniques.

We've put a lot of work into this new training format — and the results so far have been a lot of fun. So, this Thursday, come join us in Seattle! Regardless where in the world you happen to live.

Note: We're taking $10 off for tips readers. Use the discount code tipsreader when you sign up (the links above enter the discount for you).
