Creative Tip: CSS Cheatsheet Reference Cards. Free.

corecss_refcardz.pngReference cards are concise guides you can keep handy when mastering a new skill. They are cheatsheets on steroids.

DZone produces an attractive weekly series of RefCardz, including this great two-part series on CSS web design:

The RefCardz series is geared towards developers — however these two free guides are a great resource for web designers deepening their CSS skills.

Note: DZone requires you sign up for a free account to download your guides.

Tech Tip: Make Extended Print/Save Dialogs the Default.

Expanded-Save-Print.png

In OS X Leopard, Apple provided simpler, minimized, save and print dialog boxes which hide all that confusing detail — like where you want to save your files, or how you want to print your documents. For access to the full information, click the small inverted arrow in those dialog boxes.

This annoyance fades as applications remember your preference. Visit the full version of this tip for a couple quick terminal commands that make expanded print/save dialogs the default.

CS4 Video: Flash CS4 – 3D Transformations.

Flash CS4 VideoEach week we bring you a new CS4 video from Luminous Works trainer Steve Laskevitch. This video is my personal favorite. He is showing off Flash, which is one of the few Adobe applications where Steve is NOT an expert.

His enthusiasm provides hope for other designers who have struggled to break into Flash before. CS4 may be the version that finally gets you past the Flash wall.
